Boltek LD-350
« on: May 13, 2013, 07:23:21 PM »
Hi Folks,

I was wondering if anyone has purchased one of these units and would be willing to give a review, ease of use, accuracy, etc.

Thanks,

John

can be prone to electrical interference
but otherwise a great way of knowing about storms, especially for the trend, i,e increasing or decreasing strike rate
and also for when getting close
distance of strike is based on assumptions (does not always work accurately)
also you can get reflections (i.e strikes showing up 180 degrees out)...depends on objects around the antenna

My friend has the LD350 (not LD250).
It has a lower squelch than the Boltek PCI, and the LD250 and can pickup much lower power strikes and more distant strikes.

Its has a greater detection rate than PCI and LD250.

One of the things I've read about the 350 vs the 250 was the ability of the 350 to capture positive strikes whereas the 250 only captures negative strikes.  What is the significance of this data other than the strength of a positive strike compared to a negative strike? Moreover, does it justify the cost difference between the two and make the 350 a better option?

can be prone to electrical interference

In other words, it's sensitive to wall and lamp switches?
