Boltek detector (pci version) with Windows 7?
« on: June 17, 2010, 06:22:00 PM »
Am slowly upgrading my home pc empire to win7 based machines. Now down to two on other OS's - the wx pc runs xp pro sp3, and the whs machine runs whs pp3.

Sooooo.... is anyone running a Boltek pci detector in a win 7 powered box? x86 or x64?

Any rumors of a pci-e based board, since finding motherboards with pci slots is getting harder and harder.

Been running a Boltek system on Windows 7 32bit since the release candidates with no problems at all.  MSI motherboard and AMD Athlon processor w/2gigs of ram with Astrogenics Nexstorm software.

Haven't heard anything about a pci-e based system myself but you should be able to find plenty of boards with PCI slots.
Try Newegg.com they usually have some good deals.  ;)

I have been running L2K since the early days. Does NexStorm require a driver for the pci Boltek? I know that there is an XP driver (obviously 32-bit) that I was told to load to eliminate the Unknown Device in XP.

This is from the BOLTEK http://www.boltek.com/downloads.html website:

StormTracker Device Drivers
The StormTracker PCI card requires a Windows device driver to be installed in Windows before the display software is able access the card. Two different Windows device drivers can be used with the StormTracker PCI Card.  Which driver is required will depend on which display software you wish to run.  Older software will require the older V5 driver (V5.03 or V5.05)   Newer software, such as NexStorm Lite will require the V9 (V9.01) Windows device driver to be installed.  These drivers will co-exist peacefully and can both be installed at the same time, if desired.

If you wish to try out NexStorm, you can download NexStorm Lite for free at this link as well.
