Just beeps. I think I would go nuts hearing wav files during extreme t-storm activity. The cool thing is you can set the beep and duration to a specified level. Both of mine are set low.

I used http://www.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php for my close storm activity and severe storm cell alert.  I just use beeps only for strike activity within 40 miles.

That is cool. Now I wouldn't mind hearing Crystals voice for my close storm warning. Wonder what she looks like.

I had my first text-to-speech software/hardware on my Apple ][+ back in the 80s. Ever since, universally, whenever I show someone a demo like this, one of the first things they do is make it swear. It's funnier on the older, more robotic translators.

(Go ahead, tell me you didn't...)

Well, I can't exactly say I didn't.  My first text-to-speech was a prototype Votrax Type-n-Talk back in the 70's.  We had it connected to a ID-4001 my dad designed while he was at Heathkit.  I still have a Type-n-Talk (production / not wire wrapped) and I hope to get it up and going again some day.  I *love* the sound of the SC-01!  Back then, we had it connected to a Heathkit H-8 that would wake us up in the morning and tell us the current weather.   8-)

Has anyone found a way to get the Nexstorm Lite to send a warning to another application.  I thought of intercepting the pc speaker sound and using a third party program or code with visual basic to trigger another applicaiton.  I would even be happy if I could make a dummy file on the hard drive.
