Connecting two Vantage PRO2 to one ISS
« on: July 10, 2017, 04:56:38 PM »
Hello,
I have to wireless stations and I want to use only one ISS with both consoles.
I can only connect each console to its corresponding ISS, I have tried changing the IDs on both consoles and ISSs but it still doesn't work neither way.
They are from different years, one has the 3.15 US and the other 1.90 EU firmware.
Thanks

They have different frequencies.

Transmit/Receive Frequency
US Models:. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .902-928 MHz FHSS,
EU Models:. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .868.0 - 868.6 MHz FHSS

Didn't someone post how to tweak the system to go between EU and US frequencies?  IIRC it was pretty simple.

This is the post here but only applies to AU frequencies, what you would require is the EU and/or US change codes

I would appreciate a little more help with this.
Before anything else you must know I barely qualify for user level and as you may have noticed mi English is lousy.
Also I want to be able to revert this process some time when I need to install ISS on the field again.

I got from another thread on this forum the instructions to change the console from US to EU

"Run a  terminal program" I'm working on Win10 so downloaded one.
"Connect trough the logger" I did with a USB cable an the original logger
"set the baud rate" I did at 19200

On the terminal window it show connected
I went on with the instructions:
TST 1
BAND 1
DOMAIN 2
TST 0

Disconnected and reset trough depowering for a couple of seconds.
It didn´t work.
The console seems to be fine, it connected with no problem to the original ISS.

I could not see the letters I was writing on the terminal window, but I recall some one wrote this would happen.
Also saw some were, "the station should reply to the instructions with a OK"

To anyone interested.
Finally I could connect through the terminal and write the sentences, the console replied as follows:
TST1 "OK"
BAND1 "NOT IN TEST STATE"
DOMAIN2 "NOT IN TEST STATE"
TST0 "OK"

Reset and everything is the same as before, so may be the newer FW doesn't allow this intervention, or it must be done on a different "STATE"

 :-( :-(

I don't know what those errors mean, but I have changed 5 consoles from US to AU using this method.  All consoles were using fw 3.15.

Try using a space after each TST.

However make sure you only use the band legal in your country. Using the 900 MHz US band in Europe interferes with mobiles.

I bought both stations on the Chilean retail. Different years, and may be different distributors.
¿Would be possible to up load a different firmware?
Or may be it's a problem with the spaces on the sentences, on the post it seems you should leave a blank space between letters and numbers, but on my case I got reply only when I wrote them together.
It could be the terminal window I'm using, but I established connection and got reply from the console with the one I'm using.

There is no currently known way of updating a SIM board firmware.

I'm also thinking of getting another console from the states for my AU band VP2,
With the terminal program, did you use the one on windows itself or download a certain type of 3rd party software?

I tried once again, made sure I was writing in cap. letters, leaving a space between each sentence and the number.
It work. Something I did wrong before.

Thanks for the advise.
