"Feels like"
« on: January 30, 2019, 09:42:59 PM »
Last night my color console showed ambient = 19, wind chill = 20, feels like = 12.

How can the wind chill be higher than ambient, on a January night with a breeze?

How is the "feels like" temp calculated?  Proprietary formula I suppose?  It seems WAY different from wind chill most of the time.

Didn't even know there was such a calc. All I have is wind chill and heat index.

Here are a couple links that may be helpful. I just did a quick search:

the display takes in a few different variables from the 5n1 or Atlas then makes a determination for "feels like" I was just reading about this a week ago.

My w/c and f/l are never the same.

Thanks guys.  So far in this arctic blast we're having, the 5-n-1 is performing very well.  Whatever was going on with the wind chill reading has since corrected itself.

Even though it's sorted itself out, I'd like to check into this a little more on our end. Could you please tell me what color console model you're referring to? Thanks!

No need (unless it happens again), that tells me what I need to know. Thank you!
