Your high of 27 on Tuesday is going to feel like summer.

A big dip in the jetstream is to blame.  I hope the below zero weather doesn't venture down here.

I've been watching temps in central TX recently. I used to live near Austin and I don't remember it being this cold this early. I'm moving back next year and already not looking forward to that aspect. Here in MX I'm in shorts as usual and it's 70. The lowest I've recorded in 6 years is 40 and that was only for a few minutes pre-dawn. The Canuck Snowbirds wear shorts all Winter, they think it's hot. I wonder if the Jet Stream is causing the chill in TX?

When it's 99 degrees out you can find a shade tree, drink plenty of water and let the breeze keep you comfortable.  At -30 there is no "comfortable" outside.  The coldest I remember in my neck of the woods was -28 with high winds.  It was downright scary to go outside.

And how about how everything sounds different outside at those temperatures.

We are to get the same thing here.  I went out in my flannel shirt and Jeans to  spread some ice melt around the steps and driveway and although I was in the sun, normally I would be  comfortable, but to day..  I thought I had better get my jacket.  It is deceiving outside, that is why it is good to have the VP2 and I have the THSW  set rather than windchill , I get a better picture that way.

I can't think of all the words, but that reminds me of a commercial I used to hear at Ft. Hood Texas:

from the long, hot Texas summers
to the chilly winters, too.
So come on everybody,
let's all give a cheer.
Long live the long necks

Don't mind sending the cold south. Those plumes of tropical air here been keeping thinks  mellow this winter, So far only one dip to 53 below. Been hanging aroud the zero mark every since it cooled down. Here in ketch it been balmy 45 or so. Hope the ice thicken up for when I head north to go fishing.
