Bloom Sky Voltage graph on data portal (new?)
« on: March 01, 2016, 01:32:05 PM »
Just noticed a button called "station status" on data portal.  It takes you to a page that shows a graph of voltage vs. time.

This voltage graph should show some interesting data related to the position and direction of solar panels.

not sure if this is new, or if I just didn't notice it before.

Is the data portal on the app somewhere?

It should be accessible from your sign in here https://dashboard.bloomsky.com/user (I am accessing that from my computer browser as don't use a smart phone).
I can't recall if I have seen that Station Status button before.  Now trying to understand what it means...

Ah thanks for the link

I see a UV of at least 1200 24/7 for my station on the dashboard including overnight.

yep, the dark values are a bummer, especially for the WU graphs, since the large offset masks small changes.

We keep hoping they will say more about the UV values.  What is that dark value?  Is it an offset we should subtract out?  Or, is that a real value (e.g. a threshsold of sensitivity), above which higher numbers are reading correctly?  What are the units?

see this thread (I think page 2):

YES! I have been wondering if there were any way to see the voltages on the system. This is great. Looking at mine, I am amazed at how quickly the voltages rise at sunrise and the voltage dropoff overnight is not that much. Looks like the solar panel sizing is excellent.

The first one is daily and the second is an hourly chart...

Hmmm, wonder what the spike is shortly after sunrise?

Mine doesn't make any sense at all.

I'm not using the solar panel, but the unit plugged in to the adapter at all times.

So why did it "spike" on the 28th and then rapidly decline?

I suppose someone might have unplugged it, but unfortunately I'm 700 miles away right now.

Nincehelser, I can't answer your question but for the others using the solar panel and who are also seeing the spike, I am wondering if it has something to do with the solar panel controller kicking-in someway as it recharges the battery?

That must be a system battery cycle.
Its normal. To my understanding some smart systems cycle in to battery so they dont run on "charge" 100 of the time this way the battery drains a bit and goes back to full.

I noticed the other day when I logged into the site, it was telling me I had no devices attached to my account.  When it finally started working again is when I noticed the station status button.  It could just be some erroneous data from whatever update they made.

My portal is also telling me some of my data is incorrect and I should restart the station, although it does look correct and is on par with my Davis so I really don't know why it thinks that.

I'm on total solar and in ND, the light isn't the best this time of year.  December would be a better month to look at that data. But I'm going from 2.6 v down to the lowest of 2590mv.  Not as big a swing as I would have expected.

Not sure if this is just me or is there a problem with the graphs on the dashboard? When I go to the Minutes button, I only see a fixed amount of time on the graph and can't seem to scroll to a different time-frame.

There was a large UV spike in reading today.  This is from the data table:

The spike started at 12:55 PM at 1499 and up to 2144 at 1:04 pm, then down to about the normal amount at 1:45 pm.

The voltage remained about the same during that time.
It was mid day so maybe that is how it is on sunny days...

I would assume radiation is in W/m2

In which case, if it is above 1367 it is nonsense, because that is the theoretical maximum

I have no idea what units that is, it is just the numbers that the BloomSky data table provides.  I think someone has asked BloomSky but have not seen a response.  It was just odd to me to have that significant jump when the outside conditions were mostly the same from late morning until now - bright sunshine...  and my BL sunrecorder detail graph does show some spikes close to that time...
