Weather Exchange problems
« on: September 12, 2014, 11:57:40 PM »
I use the app from ambient weather called weather exchange.  I am having problems with my data being displayed. When I start the app, I get an error saying internet explorer script error and no data will display.  Does anyone have a fix.  I have Weather display running windows xp operating system.

We are all having issues w/ getting data from WU via VWS. Part of the problem is getting Mesonet data that is used to generate weather exchange. WU broke a some links and VWS is scrambling to fix it.

I noticed today that the weather exchange app went to working again, but I am still seeing script error. but at least the weather is updating and being reported.

My Weather Exchange is also back working with no scrip errors, but when I enter my location zip code in my area it displays stations 80 miles away. Any one experienced this issue?

Instead of entering the zip code, just type the name of your location and this should fix this. At least it did mine.

I entered my City and it change to my location, but as soon as it updates it goes back to the far location... even with the LAT & Lon locked.

It's been several days since the last posting on this topic - is Weather Exchange working for anyone yet?  My Weather Exchange will refresh intermittently on its own every 3-4 hours instead of every ten minutes.  Metadata is missing, but radar and the other data is fine.  Is there anything out there that can replace Weather Exchange?   Is it being actively worked on to fix the problems?  Because it's free, does it have a low priority?   I contacted Ambient, and they said WU was looking into the problem - on September 12.

Since Weather Exchange is not working anymore has anyone started using Weather Bug as a replacement?

The Weatherbug website indicated that they have recently solved their problems and should be stable.  Comments?

Removing any ZIP code from the location seems to cure the problem.  Just use a city and state.

Apparently Weather Exchange shares some amount of code with Virtual Weather Station (VWS)software.  That software also experienced problems with recent Weather Underground changes, and someone came up with this solution for VWS.  I tried it on my Weather Exchange and it worked for me.
