Weather Underground Goldstars
« on: August 23, 2017, 08:15:39 AM »
I noticed the Goldstar icon wasn't on my station yesterday afternoon. I did a little digging and found an older post on WU regarding some insight into how they rate stations.

I can't figure out why my station would drop off the list. The only variance I see is temperature. Mine is actually slightly lower than surrounding stations due to being higher in elevation and in a valley area. Furthermore, it's in the shade most of the day. So thankfully, I'm not seeing a lot of sun related temperature spikes.

Hate to be critical but because it's in the shade most of day you are reading abnormally low. Best place for station is sun exposure all day.
I fail here also with morning shade and last hour of sunset something I have no control over because of neighbors trees.

The irony is the temp there is usually a few degrees cooler vs "in town". Guess it's a local anomaly. It is a bit strange that it had the Goldstar...then it went away.
