Davis Vantage Vue in the Big Apple
« on: December 28, 2011, 09:54:55 PM »
Greetings everyone. My name is Luke, a college student here in NYC and a weather/aviation geek.:-P  On June 16th, I installed my Davis Vantage Vue weather station on top of my roof. I found a 6.5 foot tall by 1.5 inch thick aluminum pole. The pole is attached via steel clamps on a piece of treated wood covered in a black garbage bag to provide the foundation of the assembly. The assembly was drilled onto a small side wall on my roof and secured with long screws along with strong silicone. The ISS is above any adjacent trees.
Here are some pictures of the final installation:

So far, I'm impressed with the accuracy, quality, and reliability of the weather station and console. She has certainly passed the test from a few severe T-storms, TS Irene, and a strong low pressure system last night (12/27).  =D>

Ideal for your site.
You'll need some sort of poker to free the wind cups when the snow comes.
I found an old fishing rod useful!
