Hi Chief,
I am curious as to what crashed (hard drive, power supply, etc)? If it's the hard drive, it "may" be possible to bring it alive long enough to get the data off of it. I had to do my weather computer hard drive like this one time. Take the drive out of the computer, place it into a zip lock bag, and put it into the freezer for at least 3 hours. I then removed the drive from the freezer and placed it into a Thermaltake External drive holder. The trick is to get the data off of the drive before it defrosts completely and the heads drop onto the platter.
This outlandish trick worked for me, thankfully.
If you have to get a new computer, a PCIe card with 2 serial can be obtained for the data logger. I, too, had to do this when I built my weather computer.
Best of luck,
John
