Does anyone know if ultrasonic anemometers are better than the classic design? I really like the ultrasonic because of no moving parts.

Ultrasonic certainly cost more (much more) and typically require a separate power supply so better can be rather subjective depending. Similar with the "classic design" there are anemometers then there are anemometers.
