Weather Underground's UV index
« on: June 28, 2017, 12:13:23 PM »
Weather Underground reports a UV index for my 5-in-1 Pro. I didn't think the 5-in-1 Pro had any UV or solar sensors, so how do they come up with a UV index?

WU makes those numbers up, just like it tweaks some people's barometer readings.  I was feeding numbers from a DIY UV sensor to them, and their display differed from what I sent them most of the time.  Even more funny, I have a test WU station running with only a thermometer and humidity probe, and they are making up UV figures for that station that don't match the made-up figures for the first station in the same exact location.....
WU Gold Stars for everyone!

Thanks I was pretty sure the 5-in-1 Pro didn't have a solar sensor.  My neighbor’s station has a solar sensor and his UV index is usually different than mine. So Weather Underground must be using his station's solar data and modifying some kind of a baseline UV index for our area.
