WSV3
« on: May 21, 2016, 02:09:06 PM »
I'm taking a trial of WSV3 Professional, and I'm looking into purchasing it. I do have access to GRLevel3, GR2Analyst, and GRE, but I do like the faster L2 data, some of the additional models, and the 3D mapping experience. Who else who has used GR products are also using WSV3, and what are your thoughts on it?

Thanks!

I've actually already purchased the full pro version, since I trialed it twice in the last two months and the new features are just outstanding.  For weather nerds this is a must-have.

As much as I hate to say it, I think it blows GRLevel3 out of the water.  I've owned that software now for about five years.

What I like about this, is that Paul states that once you buy it, you own it for life.  Even through updates.  I bought it the day v3 came out so I got a 25 percent discount.

Edit:  I guess my biggest gripe about GRLevel3 over the last year or so was a perceived lack of engagement with the customers (I always felt that having to manually start FTP uploads was a little bit of a pain and I know several members also complained, but it seemed like there was never the desire for the developer to do anything about it).

Plus, having access to Level 2 data in this program (along with Level 3) and not having to have a separate program was a big plus for me.  Seems a little heavy, but I'm learning it.  I like it sofar.  Ask me 2 months ago and I didn't care much for it.  But he's added some things that are appealing to me now.

Thanks everyone for the info! I've been trialing it as well, and I have liked what I've seen so far, but I wanted to hear from other weather community members to get their input on it. I do like the rapid refresh L2 data, plus it has some other excellent features in it. Paul is also super responsive when I need to email him.

I was having some bugs when I first installed the trial, but the latest build seems far more stable. There's a few "must have" features I've told Paul I needed, and he's looking to see how he can implement them (multiple point queries, the ability to save data sets with map viewpoints, etc.). I'm pleased with how often he listens to customer feedback.

Can you easily use outputs from this on your own website?

Thanks. Is the range of outputs flexible or does is only provide a limited number of fixed types that you can FTP?

As far as I know you can FTP anything you currently have on screen, but I don''t think it'd FTP anything that you have closed. In other words the screen image I supplied was what I have running now. I wouldn't be able to FTP national radar coast to coast unless I have it running and on my computer screen. Make sense?
