Lightning Safety Awareness Week just ended. Cattle never listen. If that many cattle could die in 1 strike  image what could happen at ballgame or some other large gathering like concert.

I'm sure they were under a tree. My memory of Mississippi, finding a place without trees was near impossible except along the Gulf.

Is there no place you can yell "All Gods are Bastards" anymore?

Seriously, my uncle was hit by lightning on a tractor back around 2000.  He was not a fond uncle, but I won't go into that.  Still, it's a heck of a way to go.  The officials at that the time suspected foul play the way his fingertips were missing.  Unfortunately lightning can be very nasty.

Actually cows are more susceptible to lightning death due to their four-legged configuration. Ground currents can pass from the front legs through the cow's body and return via the rear legs.

People tend to think in terms of getting struck directly by the bolt, but there are significant currents passing through the ground where lightning has hit.

While not common, we have been paid more than once on a lightning claim by insurance we keep on our herd.  Fortunately, losses have been low over the years despite several very intense storms that pass through here each year.

When you see something like this-anything in the area is in trouble.

This could not be far from Aardvark

Yeah, you are right, this is very small crack in earth, while I saw this happens in front of me, at that time there was raining and after lighting it was near about 2.5 meter long hone in earth.
Lets make the world better. Go green save earth.
