I would suggest that you tried ESET NOD32, in my opinion it's the best.

I've been running Norton Security Suite for about a year. I understand previous versions were a resource hog, but this one is slim and fast.

I like the way it grades Web sites for security risks, but my favorite feature is the frequent (almost minute-by-minute) virus definition updates. Malware can hit the 'net and spread in a matter of hours. If the software updates the virus definitions only every few hours, you could get infected before the next update.

I run AVAST at home and here at work also and have had no real problems. Both McAfee and Norton have been very resource hogish for me in the past. Maybe they have overcame that problem.  I have had a round with some nasty Trojans that seems to dump their payload on the 27th of the month that so far nothing but ComboFix has been able to isolate. #-o

Hackers like that should be shot on sight!

One thing I would suggest is adding the free version of Malwarebytes. I use it to clean computers of the phony pop-up that says "your computer is infected with over 500 viruses...click here to download our cleaner". I have noticed that McAfee and NAV miss this trojan when it gets installed.

We use Malwarebytes here when we get stuff like that, it works VERY well and highly recommended.
