1969 northern Ohio Derecho
« on: July 02, 2012, 10:16:28 PM »
Just wondering with all this talk of the recent Derecho if anyone was living in northern Ohio for the July 4th 1969 event. I was only 9 at the time but I sort of remember a pretty wild night. We were vacationing on the islands in western Lake Erie. The winds had pushed the water all the way up to the 1st floor apartment we were staying at. Just remember a lot of lightning and trees down every where.

I was almost 13 during that, and I remember hearing about it. We lived in western Ohio, 60 miles WNW of Columbus, so we were not in the path.
