I administer two Linux servers remotely (weewx) as a volunteer and my personal one (weather.janeandjohn.org), all running weewx under Linux. Just had a report from one of the sites that WU is not showing their data - they have been off-line for several days.
So I started looking into the issue. The syslog reported weewx is indeed attempting to upload to WU but I get this log entry:
Nov 22 15:15:38 fisher-river-wx weewx[1232]: restx: Wunderground-RF: Failed upload attempt 1: Exception HTTP Error 401: Unauthorized
Nov 22 15:16:57 fisher-river-whttps://www.wxforum.net/index.php?board=90.0x weewx[1232]: message repeated 15 times: [ restx: Wunderground-RF: Failed upload attempt 1: Exception HTTP Error
401: Unauthorized]
I have verified the station name (KNCDOBS03) and password - I can log into WU using the user's login name and password so that's not the problem. weewx is operating normally - it's uploading to their website (FTP.) The station owner rebooted the server so that wasn't a fix. I reentered the station name and password in the weewx config file just in case that somehow got corrupted - no joy.
At this point I'm out of ideas and recommended that we delete KNCDOBS03 and create a new station. Hate to lose the archived data though
