remove Davis forecast from index.php page
« on: February 02, 2012, 09:48:36 PM »
I've looked all over for this and I'm baffled on how to remove it.  How do you remove the Davis forecast from the NWS forecast section in the index.php file.  I thought I know where to find it, but I can't.  Must have been working on these scripts for too long.  See attached jpg for what I'm looking to remove.  Thanks

Did you fix it?  On your homepage I see VWS, GR3, and some modules that look like your jpg, but not the one you show.  Youe current conditions page is a WeatherLink template.  Is your problem page somewhere else?

(Oh, by the way, do you remember where you got your background image?  I believe that is a seamless wallpaper I created about 15 years ago for my old GeoCities site.  I had another darkened version for 404's and construction notices.  Not that I care, just curious where it's travelled over the years.  Neat!)

From Ken's  Saratoga templates it should be in the Settings-weather.php for which software program you using.

$$SITE['DavisVP'] = true;
    This setting specifies whether you have a Davis VP/Vue station.
    = true means you have a Davis VP/Vue station
    = false means you do not have a Davis VW/Vue station and the display of the VP forecast on the ajax-dashboard is suppressed.

That was the part I was missing.  I do have a Davis station so I wasn't sure I wanted to change that to false.  So I looked in the ajax-dashboard.php file and found the 3 lines of code that allowed for the Davis weather station forecast to appear.  Lines 942 to 944.  I remarked them out and that took the Davis forecast out.  Thanks for pointing me in that direction.  I've been doing so much with PHP code and getting my updated site ready I just missed that one.  Thanks Ed.

xykotik - I found that background image back in 1996 when I made my very first web page.  This was back before I even had a personal weather station.  I don't remember now exactly where I found it, but it has been a part of my website for a long time and I will miss it after my new site goes live on Monday (Feb 6).  Thanks for creating it!!

And yes I do have my issue fixed now.  It was at my test url.  www.madridiowaweather.com/wxindex.php

I gather you wanted the Davis forecast removed, because its ridiculously inaccurate much of the time.

Also the 2nd home page using modified AltDashboard 6.95 at http://stillwaterweather.com/2ndhome.php

Yes the Davis forecast is rarely correct so it has been removed from the site.   :grin:
