Author Topic: Happy First Anniversary, WXForum.net! (Read 16590 times)

It was one year ago today (July 26, 2006) that WXForum.net opened as the 'temporary home' for Weatherforum.net. We were hoping the sudden demise of simple-web.net hoster would be a temporary thing (it wasn't), and that weatherforum.net DNS would return (it was snatched by a domain grabber).

Nevertheless, WXForum.net became the new address for independent weather enthusiasts discussions and has carried on the tradition started by Gary Oldham with weatherforum.net.

Since the doors opened here on July 26, 2006, we are now at 321 users registered (a bit shy of the former 350+ registered on the old forum), and we've been a talkative bunch with 5432 posts during this time.

59 members have posted 10 or more times
40 members have posted 20 or more times
19 members have posted 100 or more times
9 members have posted 200 or more times

We have heard only sporadicly from Gary Oldham during the last year -- his new job has been keeping him busy, and we hope that he'll drop in more often this next year.

THANKS to all of you for helping each other and keeping WXForum.net an active, interesting and informative place for weather enthusiasts to gather.

5 years "Holy Forum Batman" thats a long time

Wow, it has been 5 years today.. I'm very glad that this fine community of weather enthusiasts has kept learning, discovering and sharing knowledge with each other. I think this incarnation has now been in service longer than the original weatherforum.net was running, and it's really nice to see many of the original members are still here and active.

So.. the congratulations goes to you all .. YOU make it a great forum.

Yes, this is quite an accomplishment. My congrats to everyone who has worked to make this forum the success it is.

We shouldn't forget about all of the regional weather networks that have been formed as a result of the initial Southwestern Weather Network that was created by these same admins. They have spread the weather around the globe to just about every continent. Their unending commitment to excellence is admirable, to say the least.

I would like to raise a toast to those who went ahead of us and provided the never-ending support to get us all on-line, regardless of the problems we encountered.

Thank you to Ken, Chris, Larry and Drew - you have done an exemplary job!!!
