First time setup - looking for some advice
« on: May 12, 2015, 05:07:47 PM »
Hi All!

New guy here. Looking to put together my first weather station. I have had the desire to for a while. I am looking at the Control By Web solution with the Davis ISS setup. Although this solution is a bit pricey, I think (and maybe you guys can point me in a better direction) it will do what I am looking for. I'd like to be able to push to WU/CWOP etc. I'd also like to datalog locally and store in a MySQL or MSSQL database on my server. Local web based access would be nice to have too. Not interested in a cloud based solution. (I have 2 ESXi hosts, static public IP and a plenty of IT resources :) looking to get a little more geeky)

I own my home so I can mount gear pretty much anywhere. I am in the city, but not right in the heart of the city (I have a small yard)

I'd love to be able to start with one piece at a time. Primarily I'd love to start with wind. The wind here gets quite strong at times.

I've already got a Control By Web temperature monitor and it does ok.

Any thoughts? Trying to find a good solution.

Thanks!
-Alex
