Windcaps for WGR918 Oregon Windset
« on: June 17, 2011, 06:25:38 AM »
My caps are damaged en I have to renew the set. But my supplier told me they are not available anymore. Has anyone an idea where I can find or order for these windcaps?
In relation to that. When it is not possible to renew the caps, I have to go over to a new weatherstation. The existing stationsystem WMR-928N with the windset WGR918 had an extension cable to the solarcel (with backup battery). In that place the backup battery was easy to change. I discovered that all interesting weatherstations have backup batteries in the units. In my case that is a place at height and difficult to reach. I'm looking for a solution to install a weatherunit with backup battery at distance or to power from a distance.
Are there any suggestions?

Arjen, welcome to the forum! Perhaps you can get another wind sensor from here http://www.madaboutthings.com/oregon-scientific-wgr918-wind-sensor-1813-p.asp or check on ebay?

I wonder if 968 cups would work?

Indeed, I found that the WMR918, WMR928 and WMR968 parts are interchangeable. The store ambientweather.com solds the windpointer and cups assy, see the link http://www.ambientweather.com/wmwmwmanre.html
But bad luck :-(, they don't ship outside USA and Canada!

Get someone in the US to relay the package to you.   Or try to find a forwarding service to Netherlands.

http://www.meteo.no/ekstra-sensorer-deler/oregon-scientific/oregon-sceientific-vindskopper (norwegian site)  don't know if they ship abroad, but worth a try.  I've ordere here myself so it's from my experience a good source.

FrozenPinguin,

Thanks.
This week I'm going on holiday. After that (may be about 7 weeks) I'll try to order for the cups. I have already tried to understand the Norwegian language. I recognise some words, perhaps I shall you ask later on for some help to guide trough the orderpages.
But I have also thoughts to change totally the weatherstation. Due to the rain sensor shows some problems at this moment. The reception signal is disappeared after a cloudy day. I suppose that the rechargeable battery has gone, but otherwise the backup batteries are renewed. That is strange. The WMR928 system is of 2005.
