WU (Weather Underground ) data posting error just started happening. Anyone else having issues with Kevin's App?
-
Same here. Issue seems to be the formatting of the date. If I change it to dateutc=now it will get success.
-
I too am noticing an issue.
"5/30/2018 08:31:30 ERROR posting data to Weather Underground. The remote server returned an error: (400) Bad Request."
I was using my Meteobridge yesterday and I noticed it had issues updating Weather Underground all of a sudden when on Sunday, it worked fine (this is a Dlink DIR-505 that I flashed myself). I just switched back over to using Kevin's application when I saw the issue.
I sent an email to Wunderground asking if there was any issues with PWS's uploading data but I haven't heard back yet.
-
I will get an email out to Kevin.
Same message here...
"ERROR posting data to Weather Underground. The remote server returned an error: (400) Bad Request."

Hey ColoradoWeather, I think the issue may be with "rtupdate.wunderground.com". Seems a lot of folks have been experiencing issues with WU since yesterday / today.
I can't ping that site and when you go to it directly you get a "404 page not found" error. Thought, I don't know if these two observations are to be expected or not.

It looks like Acurite has changed the way gust are reported to Weather Underground. This happened on the 29th the same day Kevin's Software started having issues. It is probably an issue with the way the data is parsed by the software. I sent an email to Kevin.

what smarthub reader is sending: &dateutc=5/30/2018%2012:04:48%20AM
per the docs
IMPORTANT all fields must be url escaped
reference http://www.w3schools.com/tags/ref_urlencode.asp
example
2001-01-01 10:32:35
becomes
2000-01-01+10%3A32%3A35
quick fix would be to just send 'now' instead

It does look like WU is actually having some problems. Now I am not sure what is going on?
-
I'm receiving a similar error message as well on mine. Bad request (400)
-
of the few dozen stations that run kevin's reader, the only ones back up reporting have switched using myacurite (probably the easiest temporary fix), weewx, acuparse, meteobridge, or other script. WU has been working on a new PWS data ingestion platform and apparently have implemented some of it. the old system probably allowed for some leeway in the specifications in the protocol. Hope Kevin will do an update for us who still use the software with the old bridge/smarthub

Kevin's reader software is working well for other sites. I am even having trouble getting the Acurite site to report to WU.

Here is the official response from Weather Underground...

Looks like they changed the update format causing the issues. No response from Kevin yet.
-
Looks like Kevin is now using weewx-3.8.0 on his Weather underground site. EOTL I guess...
-
Hi all,
Sorry for the delay. Yeah, I've switched to using WeeWX, but will working on fixing my Windows app real soon...
-
I've just made some fixes that (hopefully) resolve the ERROR 400 issue. Please download the latest version that I posted moments ago:

Hey Kevin the new update works great! Thank you for your hard work! Without your program I would have tossed this weather station a long time ago.
-
You're very welcome. Glad my app is back to working well for you.

Thanks Kevin!
-
Thank You, Kevin! This gave me the opportunity to utilize some of the other weather services that your app supports. The App is working wonderfully again! It really is a fantastic App. Hope all is well with you.
Sincerely,
Jack

Thanks a ton Kevin..
That fixed WU... is there a similar issue for weatherbug?
I started seeing error - ERROR posting data to Weatherbug. The remote name could not be resolved. 'data.backyard2.weatherbug.com' prob a few days or so prior to WU having issues.
