On how I can possibly run a Boltek pci card with a laptop? Obviously it won't fit inside. Didn't know if there was an external adapter like pci to usb that I haven't seen. If not, anyone interested in a lightning detector?

There is an adapter to connect the PCI card to your laptop however the cost is about $1000.

Don't think I'll be going that route. 
Looks like the portable station is going to have to go without lightning info.

The problem is there isn't (and never really has been) any real demand for such a thing. The Magma units are the only one's I'm aware of.

Get yourself a mini-ITX system w/ a car power supply (delays booting until car starts to avoid spikes).  Add a nice 8" touch screen LCD and you're good to go mobile!
