Title: Looking for ECMWF precipitation type model gif
Post by: Red Dragon on November 11, 2017, 09:57:47 PM
I'm wanting to put a ECMWF precipitation type or snowfall model animation on my website. Anyone know where I can find one kindof like this one here http://www.coolwx.com/ptype/

Thanks

I found this on another forum "You can obtain qpf output for the Euro via paid services only"

Go to https://weather.us/
Look under forecast and model charts.
ECMWF QPF charts are there.

Any place I've looked the animation is missing unless you pay for service, but not saying someone doesn't have a secret honey hole somewhere.

Well this is pretty good website, is there any cheap paid services for the ECMWF since I wouldn't be needing all of the different charts in it?

I know some people that use Weather Bell and the graphics are quite good.
But it's $25 a month. That's a lot to pay for Euro graphics. I also think they have some policy about posting their data publicly but I'm not sure about that.

I found one that I'm thinking about subscribing. Weather.US First free ECMWF I've found but offers more like model comparison, animation etc. if you subscribe. Only $99 year or $10 month.

some examples what's free:

Pricing for paid services:

I never pay for any weather services.  Ever.

If it isn't free from an official government source, I have no use for it.

The reason I posted the link Weather.US  its only free site I've found so far showing ECMWF precipitation. The loops are many hours old (free version) but not the still images so very usable.
Question has come up before for that particular model which is widely regarded most accurate outside of the rapid  models which are limited because they are only looking ahead 18-24 hours.

You can try Windy.com (http://Windy.com), has ECMWF, GFS, NAM, ICON models. Showing different 35 weather layers.

It doesn't show ECMWF precp however. You can click on snow forecast and its showing same as NAM. But it is a cool site to play with.

You are probably looking on a different weather layer. Check the precipitiation type layer https://on.windy.com/1bhni (https://on.windy.com/1bhni). You can change to NAM, ECMWF, GFS showing different values.
