Strange images
« on: April 18, 2016, 11:01:35 PM »
Could you guys take a look at 4-18 time lapse.
Getting several frames where weird colors show up randomly.
Don't know if it's losing the wifi signal or something else.

That looks like some kind of RF interference. Are the any ham radio operators near you? I'm a ham but have never seen any such color streaks on my bsky while I am operating.

If you look at the top of the image you'll see the my wireless anny spinning around. :-)
It's about 5 ft below it.
If that was the issue wouldn't it be all the time instead of randomly?

Hate to say that might be a bad camera, seems like it could be some kind of intermittent short. I remember seeing another one with a bad camera that looked like that but as you said it was all the time.

Have to admit RF interference was my first thought too, not sure what kind of antenna that is at the top of the tower  :?

That's an old TV antenna that's no longer in use.
I just don't have the cajones to climb that high to take it down.

How about temporarily moving the Bloomsky unit to another location on your lot and see what happens? That may help to isolate the problem. It could be a defective camera too, as mentioned in an earlier post.

Have you contacted Bloomsky support? They may be able to help.

Yes I have. Waiting for a response. After I hear from them I'll decide what to do.

Bloomsky got back to me and said the unit may be bad so they are sending out a new one. I mentioned about the anny transmitter being close by but they didn't mention it in the response.
We'll see when I get the new one.

Well, finally got the new unit today, but, it won't turn on.
Tried and tried but that little green light won't come on.
Put the old one right next to the new one and did the same thing and it fired right up.
Tried calling them but the number on the app just keeps disconnecting. I'll send off an email and see what they want to do. :-(

Maybe it needs to be charged first?.  Does the red light come on when you plug in the wall charger?

Yeah the red light came on when charged but after it went out I tried again.
No luck.

That it takes a charge and then goes off sounds like its not totally doa.

Some units reported problems turning on, can you hear the power button click when pressed? Maybe try a pen to help push the power button?

Here is the link for the BloomSky help desk regarding power on issues.

Issues with the outdoor weather station power button?

The power button is located on the grey seal running along the outside of the device. The travel distance of this button is much farther than the Wifi button and will have a less distinct “clicking” sound. If you do not think it is turning on, press the button as far as it can go and verify that the indicator lights blink (this could take up to 10 seconds.) If it does not, press the button again and see if the lights still don’t turn on. If so, contact us with this information. A video would help us greatly to verify and find a solution for your issue.

Can definitely hear the faint click. Yes I have tried a pen to see if that works.
Believe me I have tried and tried and tried.
I'm assuming they did not test this one before sending.
Anyways have emailed the person I was in contact with.
Will probably send a video so they can see for them selves.

I was hoping that wasn't the case because it becomes so frustrating trying to get a replacement.

Psychedelic images are usually caused by pot-laced stray electrons (wink, wink).
