George I am a legal customer. My weather station went through UK Customs without any problems and I didn't buy it via some dodgy source.

actualy there is very few reports of people saying the after sales service is bad
note that if you had purchased localy, then you would not be complaining about bad after sales service (but sure that costs you more)

As I explained windy I can't buy 'locally' and even if I did I would have to go through a third party to get anything done because Davis don't deal with overseas customers. As far as I'm concerned it's a crap service. That's my opinion based on the treatment I've received.

Dentaltourist:

I'm sorry to hear that you've had such a bad experience with them.

Not to push any particular retailer, but have you contacted anyone at

   http://www.meteorologica.co.uk

for assistance or advice? They are in the U.K., and they sell Davis products.

Regards,

Kevin...

Hi Kevin

No I haven't contacted meteorologica but thank you for the information. The seller in the USA is sorting it out and hopefully i won't need to contact Davis or anybody else for a long while. Thanks again

Because there isn't a weather station shop here

I think windy is referring to "locally" in a more regional sense.  Like why can you not buy locally from a company in your country like the example he gave of http://www.weatherfront.co.uk ?

Sounds like all the places you checked were extremely expensive?   :???:

Next time you might want to ask around the forums for advice on where to purchase before you buy.  There's probably a few people that could give recommendations (and warnings). ;)

Although my experience with Davis support is they answer what they want to, I have to give them the benefit of the doubt here.  When they do answer their support is excellent.  There are a myriad of export restrictions, especially on electronic equipment.  Maybe the person you dealt with wasn't that informed on the exact reasons they couldn't help.  That's a training issue on Davis' end.

(they used to be called weatherfront)
a real bricks and mortar shop, not a internet shop :)
