That says the last data received for Rain, Outdoor & Wind was 2 hours old, signal strength was -89db, -68db & -73db respectively, which is rather high. What value have to set on the Station page for "RF Sens."

-90db

data 2 hours old??  The system is up.  The station ISS is transmitting.  The station is on the roof practically on top of the Meteobridge Pro box.
Currently showing 1 hour old.  Shouldn't this be updating every few seconds?

Uh oh.  The Pro is only inches from a big TV.  Moving it will present new problems, the house router is also right there.

The router shouldn't be an issue, who knows what is coming out of the TV? Has it done this from install or just started dropping signal? Anything else that has recently been turned on or starts/stops and coincides with the outage? Time to eliminate possible causes one by one and try to identify a reproducible conflict.

If the ISS is directly above then could depend a little on roof material and what else is in between. Try re-orientating the ISS & MBPro antenna horizontal a opposed to vertical on vertical.

My signals are ranging from -52dB to -77dB. If your chimney mounted ISS is almost directly above the MBPro Red receiver, the antenna orientation might help. I don't use the supplied antenna, I added my own 900MHz magnetic-mount dipole with integral cable terminating in SMA. Mine is down in the basement and I wanted to improve reception. The MBPro Red reception is not as good as the Davis consoles and the external antenna seems to help.

The "RF Analysis" display option under "Services" may be helpful in troubleshooting. It is a "Standard Message" from the drop-down event list.

At times the reception is adequate, but right now it is lagging a half hour and that is with nearby TV off.

I'm really surprised by this issue, the Davis console at my desk, farther away than the Pro from ISS, has never ever had a reception issue in 6 years of constant running.

Guess I will look into upgrading the antennas.  I seem to run into one issue after another.

Back to white numbers, reset RF sens to "narrow".
Meteoplug still reporting "no valid RF signal"

Still going ok for half hour after resetting RF to narrow.  The photo in the instructions showed "normal" so that's why I put it there in the first place.

I have to leave the setup unattended for the next 3 days, going to work far from home.  Wish I could baby sit it.

If anyone knows of a good US available antenna upgrade, please let me know. $15 antenna from Europe had $86 shipping.

Strange.  This setup is so new to me.  It's now reporting temps and winds to WU and they are showing live so I don't get it!  I go over the setup pages over and over.

I am pretty sure that this is what I bought:

I used a lumber plate with a 90° angle to mount it so it would have a steel surface to hold onto.
Something like this:

Try dropping the RF Sens. down to -80 or about 10db lower than the weakest signal.

Narrow is ok for direct ISS connection, if you experiment with re-transmission from the Vue console then use Normal.

That is measuring the temp of the little red box itself and it's hot!

Yeah internal temp inside the alloy case can be fairly high, this is normal.

There's not a lot of room left inside the box, case would be acting as a heat sink to outside environment

These are the same settings I use. I think that I also changed to "Narrow" shortly after getting the Red.

I thought it was doing ok while I am out of town but apparently not. These sporadic losses of signal data are not acceptable.
When I get back home tomorrow, I will have to attempt more adjustments and hopefully the arrival of a new and bigger antenna will help.
The box has to do better than this or I will have to go back to wired data logger and VWS.
The ISS is less than 30 feet away!

I assume that you still have your console. What is your good packet percentage on the console diagnostic? (Temp+Hum to enter diagnostic, "Done" to exit) Is the console about in the same location as the MBPro-Red?

A couple of suggestions.

  • Are there any metal objects including house wiring in the signal path that could affect the signal?
  • Are there other 900MHz ISM band devices potentially causing interference? Smart Meter?
  • Any other nearby Davis stations?
  • Other interference-generating devices close by?

When you get the new antenna, you might experiment around with different locations to get the best signal. My consoles/Envoys are in the basement and although they work well there, I had to get the external antenna for the MBPro-Red and put it up at the joist level to get it above grade.

Good luck and I hope that the new antenna helps.
