Why design an new PWS when the VP2 is as good as Davis will ever get for an cheap build station. Only better come in over the 1000 buck mark.
The concept of a VP3 has been beaten to death in this Forum. Apparently it is not in the cards. However, Davis does not need to target a price point of over $1,000 to make the VP2 better. An 8" rain collector, an easily replaceable supercap, a color console, a console that can communicate to the computer using bluetooth technology, or the like, so during an electrical storm the connection is not lost which frequently happens to my setup, and make Weatherlink a better software package--not so DOS looking too. All of this should easily be incorporated into a new product, say VP3, without a substantial increase in today's pricing of the VP2.
