Our weather stations
« on: May 12, 2017, 08:17:51 PM »
Hi guys,

as some of you know, I work for the Czech NWS and in the past I was asked several times what station models we use.

In general we have two station types. One, which is a highly professional station, usually placed on major airports.

Then we have stations which are smaller and placed all over the country, AFAIK there is about 650 of them (which is relatively lot because we are not a large country) and these are probably a bit more similar to our stations, which some sometimes also call "professional" :D

If someone was interested, these smaller stations are equipped with:
- Waisala WA15 anemometer

- METEOS 7 control unit

- SD6 sunshine detector

- Microstep MR3H heated rain gauge

- Vaisala HMP-155 temperature and humidity probe
http://www.vaisala.com/Vaisala%20Documents/Brochures%20and%20Datasheets/HMP155-Datasheet-B210752EN-E-LoRes.pdf

The anemometer is placed on a 10m pole and the temp/humidity is at 2m height. Some stations also have soil temperature sensors placed at 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100cm depth, some have ground temperature sensors (2cm above ground).

The highly professional stations at the airports also have pressure and other sensors and Im not sure about the exact sensor models.
