My Elevation:837 is incorrect , how can I change it to 920 ft? I contacted WU a few times w/o a response.

Is there a way to correct the incorrect elevation?

There is no way to correct for elevation. That is configured when you create the station ID. Same goes for location. If you need to change any of that it requires creating a new station ID. Now it is maybe possible that WU can fix that for you but I haven't read evidence that this has been done (but I obviously can't know of every possible circumstance).  Usually people just create a new station ID.

The problem seems twofold. Previously you were able to enter the elevation manually when creating a station. Now it seems that they have taken that functionality away and the elevation is set by the map only. The other problem is location using only 3 decimal degrees. At least that you can fix by manually adding the added decimal degree digits (I suggest 6 decimals digits).

Looks like WU has dumbed-down the interface when adding a station. It is very likely that they had a good reason to remove the elevation from the user control as many people probably are clueless what their elevation is or how to find it. So WU is now relying on the map. Trouble is how good is the map?...well from what I can tell not very good.

I think this was probably a good move to ease new users that have little experience with adding a station....BUT they should also allow for manual control of elevation and let savvy people do that. Just like they allow you to manually add digits in for more location precision.

They are probably using the GLOBE database of 1 KM grid elevation points (at least I hope so and they're not using the old 30 second data) to pull elevations.  Problem is, this is a horribly inaccurate method as anyone who uses these data sets knows you don't consult them for single point elevations.
