Thanks, Randy.

I suspected as much, but every now and then there is a wiget hidden somewhere that I'd not uncovered.

Well, it's not a deal killer, but just inconvenient.

As I said, the Axis menu allows that, and it was just a nice option.

Oh, those are great pictures, and I wonder if you tweaked any of the camera settings or just let them play right out of the box?  The colors look very good, and mine are a bit bland, but I have a gray, everything hazy, day so far to test this new one.

Dale I'm running at 50% on all settings except brightness 59%.
South camera I run contrast 15% because it looks into sun.

Hi...I am looking around for a potential new webcam and came across this thread.  The camera looks great but I have a question, does the Hikvision work with Weather Display?  Does WD pick up the image through the wdwebcamcapture program?

Thanks

Cheffy and Tom,
I haven't had a chance to delve into the WD setup yet, having just gotten the ability to see webcam images and such.

This is good news, and I'll be looking into it when the time allows.

Cheffy, all I can say is that this is a very robust camera from my limited experience, and those here have much more experience and yet stick with it, which says something.

There is only one drawback from my very narrow view, which is that there is no option in setup to allow an anonymous sign in from within your own LAN, which would make it as simple as clicking on a bookmark to see an image.  Not a huge deal, but would be nice since another camera I've seen has this in it's setup menu.

Mine have been in 103 degree temps and high humidity (ugh) and twenty five below. When I was in testing it never gave me a problem.

I did get mine through Amazon, and the seller was Netview or net something.  Others here have recommended that place as a source, since it appears this is such a popular camera and design that the market is awash with cheap knockoffs and attempts to make theirs ride the shirtails of this camera's success.  There may be a direct link to them, or some way to assure the chances are high of getting a genuine, not knockoff, camera.

Good luck.  Take the plunge.  I was very anxious when I started and the folks here were superb in answering questions and helping out.
Hope this is encouraging.  Dale

Thanks Tom & Dale - it's good to know this will work with WD. In my current setup I specify a snapshot URL in the wdwebcamcapture program, is this still the case for the Hikvision camera? If so, what URL are you using to take a snapshot?

Thanks

In WD's webcam program in the ip camera setup use  http://xxx.xxx.x.xx/Streaming/Channels/1/picture
The stream from the camera will come up on the screen.

On the F version cameras, is there a reset button somewhere i'm not seeing?

I had network issues yesterday and the back one was fine. This mornings it crapped out
and I didnt want to take it down and bring it in to connect to the PoE to diagnose.

I didn't take mine down, and this is just a knee jerk response so take it for that, but I think that it is under the little door held onto the bottom of the unit by the two screws.  By the SD card slot, isn't it?

That is correct. Remove the cover on the bottom and you will find the reset button inside.

Did you power cycle the camera? When it first comes on you should see the IR lights fire up for 10 seconds and then shut off.

I've cycled it from inside a few times. It's a long run so I cant make it out there to see the lights lol.

I'll look under the door when I get home. Thanks all.

Tony just a thought because I had a couple IP's change after router/modem reboot with dynamic DHCP before turning auto DHCP off. I Use the SADP software to verify IP addresses.

I can see the 1 cam using the IP address but not the other and SADP doesnt see either of them for some reason.
Webcam 7 is streaming the front one without a problem but cant see the back one.

That's odd, and your cameras, computer, router are all on same network?

Yep. Same network.

Power went out yesterday. When that happens I spend a few hours trying to get things back up and running.
1 computer just would not connect by ethernet. Wireless was ok. Plus last night my internet was slower than my mother in law walking,
so with upload speed of 0.36 megs that further compounded a frustrating evening.

Since power went out and you don't see cameras with sadp I do suspect a network issue. Can you log into router and see IP addresses connected in the device table? f you see several try those unidentified devices IP addresses also. One of them may be the missing camera.

Well, turns out the camera had the same IP address as my weather computer.

I have them all on dynamic ip's but somehow the computer used the one of the back cam.
I've got my router to use addresses between 1 and 200. No clue why they both chose the same.
I realized this AFTER I took the cam inside.

Gave the wx computer a static IP and it's all set now.

Also on my router, I cant see anything that has a static IP address. Only the dynamic ones.
Any idea why?

I set a static IP for my Hikies when I set it up. Then set the IP with my chosen port within the router and it's never changed. I also have static IP's on my PC's as well. I have both Asus routers. One in the garage that the cams are connected to that's bridged to the main router in the basement.  Hope this helps.

Tony could be you haven't set static IP's up yet, so they are shown as DHCP set. My stupid router all I can do is turn off auto set DHCP addresses.
Better and most modern routers have a internal static setup somewhere, so when router reboots loses power it puts the cameras back on original IP where issues like this don't arise.

Glad you got it figured out.

Ive had the 2 cams on 192.168.1.198 & 199 since I got them along with a forwarded port within Webcam7 for them.
It's weird that the weather computer would try and hog the 198 IP if it was already taken.

I'm set a static IP on the weather computer so the back cam works. We'll chalk this up to WHO KNOWS WHY IT HAPPENED.

The odd thing, during cases like this, Windows will report an IP conflict with another device. Surprised Windows didn't report the conflict on the taskbar.
