"rain last fell" problem
« on: December 31, 2009, 08:38:33 PM »
Having an issue with the "rain last fell" tag (^vyd009^).

Have zeroed my rainfall totals so am now standing at 0 rainfall for 2010...as it should be. Problem is before midnight it said rain last fell on 30/12/09 (which it did). Now, after midnight, it says rain last fell 1/1/09. I've obviously left something out of my end of year rollover.

For the moment, I've manually configured my site to say 30/12/09 but it would be great to not have to remember to put the tag back in next time it rains. I'm assuming, it will self correct next time it rains. My UV meter did the same but it self corrected because we had sun today (naturally  ). Could be a while before we get rain here.

Any thoughts?

Peter

Actually ^vyd009^ is "Total Rain Yearly Hi Date"

It just so happens that it can be used to indicate the last date of rainfall.

That value will be wrong on my site also, until we get some rain/snow, but I doubt many people every look at it on my site (if they can find it)

Well that makes some sense LFWX. However, I still don't see why its referring to 2009. It would make more sense if it was pointing to 1/1/2010...as yours does. Don't recall having to deal with this problem same time last year. :???:

Due to the long periods of "no rain" I use a script provided by Andrew at http://www.mackweather.com/ which uses that same tag, but the last rain was in Dec 2009 so at the new year it didn't work because it now is reading the 2010.bin file, I added a "+16" to the formula to pad it until we get our next rain and today it's reading "17 days since last rain" so guess that worked.

Well, I guess it doesn't really matter now. There's a storm rolling through at the moment accompanied with a fair bit of rain....instant fix.

:-) My brother lives in Sydney, so I always have an interest in Australia's weather.
Your website is beautiful, and I really like your avatar, too.  =D>
Good luck, from one OS equipment user, to another!

Thanks Henry,

Appreciate the comments. I rebuilt the site completely from scratch at the end of last year (moving away from the standard VWS template) based around what the "locals" were asking for. As a fellow OS owner, you'll know the issues that can beset the equipment periodically (like one I had affecting data for the last two weeks) but when it all comes together............. its brilliant.
