Since I have been here, we have had a high temp of 96, dew points in the low to mid 70s, and the highest heat index being 109 here. To the west they reached 110!

Although it is hot here still (Last advisory read 92), a cold front that swept through the area a couple of days ago dropped dew points back to the upper 60s, making heat indeces around 100.

99.5 , hot enough for me,  but we sure could use the rain.  peaches are small and hard,  used to be bigger by now.  maybe I need to go waste water on them.

As of yesterday, this would tie for the 8th hottest summer on record for Charleston, WV, and we're still 10 degrees above average today.

The Highest Temp for Phoenix was 122F on Jun 26 1990.  I however didn't move here until the following July.  So I "Missed" it.  We did have a 121F in July 1995.

This year, we had 119F with around 7% humidity (what they call a Dry Heat) near the end of June.  Need to look it up.

We have had an unusually dry "Monsoon" this year.  Can't think of many days were it was really moist hot which would be typical during Most of July though the End of August.  As a result, it has been a fairly comfortable hot this summer, unlike what the mid-weat and now the east have been getting.

You're going by the airport numbers prior to your move tho', correct? How do your own overall summer numbers line up with theirs?

I remember my last summer in Vegas (2005) as being a record setter and every station on my side of town was consistently 5+ degrees higher than LAS.

That was a HOT one for sure!

...before they moved the weather station at the airport, Yuma, AZ, *used* to battle with Thermal, CA, for the dubious title of "HOTTER-than-HELL" capital of USA.

...Tucson's record high is 117ºF on 26-June-1990. And, I recall the airlines having to abort to Tucson for landings when Phoenix airport temp was 122ºF because their electronics weren't "certified" for operation above 120ºF!

Incredible.  Tulsa's record high ever was on Aug 10 1936 at 115ºF

Sofar my station has reported a high of 108.9ºF twice this year.

And Tulsa is on par for its hottest summer ever recorded.  Our current mean for this summer sofar is around 88.5.  Summer of 80 was 87.1.  We'll likely break it, as the weather heads are saying no relief in sight likely for at least three weeks.

Here's my July as of yesterday...

@#$% ](*,)  Here it is the end of July / beginning of August, traditionally the hottest week of the year, and our high for the year is still only 25.2C.  If anyone has some heat to spare, I'll take it off your hands.

I remember the weathernets around town on the news that week - all the ones by me in the Ft Apache/Twain area were running 120s. Every one of them. It was brutal for sure. Even with the chilled air being aimed at my bed, I still had a floor fan running. I had already decided to move from Vegas prior to that but that pretty much cinched it entirely.

Now I'm nice and cool with only a 108 as a record high (station).

hot all week. Better than ice, snow and low wind chills.
The soil moisture reading in my garden was 42 at the 4 inch level and 41 at the 12 inch level...  I figured since there was no rain in the forecast, time to water the garden.

Peaches on the trees are small for this time of the year,  that rain in June didn't seem to help them in July.

Anyway...it is hot, humid and just nasty that way, but I'd rather have this than the cold

I disagree.  When it is cold you can always put another sweater on.  When it is hot you cannot do anything.
By the way,  we reached 89.7°F  on July 6.  Great "No Summer"  so far.

On the one hand, an average person can survive hot weather relatively easy.  On the other hand, no one is immune to freezing to death.

I have some other data that's not posted on the comparison and it's amazing how close all the numbers are.  If this were a blind test, no one would be able to decide which is the $100 unit & which is the $1000 unit.

I'm sure NE Oklahoma can beat that tomorrow.  We're possibly going to break the city alltime record of 115.  Today's official high at the airport was 112.  They're calling for 114, but that all depends on the timing of the front that's moving this way.  If we get the compressional heating that happens in advance, I'm guessing we'll get 116 or 117.  If not, it will likely be closer to 114.  My station registered 113.9 degrees today.  For another alltime station record.
