I've had the 5 in 1 for a little less than a year on the original batteries. Today, I noticed the battery icon showing up on the base. I replaced the batteries and it's still showing up.
Any ideas? Also, I tested the "old" batteries and they are only at 1.42v out of 1.5

When my 5-1 sensor suite goes south, the console shows -40C for a while until it is truly dead. Replace the batteries (usually one cell is dead, the others fine?) and all good. Did you replace console batteries, too? Or re-pair the sensor to the base?

I recently took my 5n1 sensor down, and checked the batteries. Like Bushman, one of my Duracell batteries was a bit lower than the other three. I thought that was kind of odd, but apparently not?
I had to clean the clogged rain gauge due to birds using it as their port a john.

I've re-paired the main unit, still same results. I did replace with 1.2v rechargeable Duracell Batts. I'll try regular ones tonight.
The console has the same rechargeable Batts from day one. Rated at 1.2 reading 1.32v. I keep it plugged in to power.

I've had no issue using Immedion recargeables.

Rechargeables are not recommended. Their low voltage tends to cause problems.

I switched out all 4 batteries and all is good now. [tup]
I did notice that the fan inside is making a clicking noise when it's spinning. This is the first time I've had the sensor down since I put it up, so no telling how long it'd been making the noise for.

I lightly oil my fan motor once a year. This takes care of the noise.

Good to know! I didn't know that was an option. Is there a write up on accessing the fan?

Just take out all the phillips screws to remove the housing (NOT the rain gauge screws that are exposed on the gray bottom!), and then pull off the fan blade from the shaft. I put a few drops of thin oil where the shaft spins and then put the solar panes in the sunshine upside down for a minute so the oil gets down inside. This works out nicely. The first time you do it, you may need to do it twice.
