Tsunami hits Jersey Shore

On June 13, a tsunami hit the Jersey shore. At this time it is apparently not known if it was caused by an offshore earthquake or the "low-end derecho." http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/Tsunami-Strikes-the-Jersey-Shore-212814951.html

Hopefully I'm far enough inland. That being said, I have a problem with articles that use commas instead if apostrophes.
