Is there a member with any experience, knowledge or advice about his make of Weather Station?

http://www.greenfrogscientific.co.uk/aercus-instruments-weatherranger/

Sold in the UK by Greenfrog Scientific, this Aercus Instruments looks to be a clone of many others.

Namely the Ambient WS-1001-WIfi, and the HP1000 by Fine Offset (I think that's the original manufacturer).

This https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DA1uzROM9w YouTube video seems to describe installation of the specific piece of kit.

Basically, how reliable is this design?
Is it any better or worse than any others? The price is (£229 / 315€ / $350).

I have been running an ancient La Crosse unit but it finally came to a very abrupt end when the screen started to flash and there was a loud clicking sound from inside the control-panel. This was while using both power sources- battery or via mains transformer. It sounded, and looked, very final. I was not impressed by the wind-speed measurement with the La Crosse as the accuracy depended on the immediate direction of the wind-vane- i.e. if the wind gusted from 90º the speed wouldn't be measured.

Any advice or observations very welcome.

You can get them off Aliexpress for $269 USD/240 Euro.  Pretty much the same thing as Ambient's wifi model.  all pumped out of the same places in factory cities in China.

Thanks for the fast reply, Bushman.

I have imported some kit from the US before and the import duty and time taken is criminal.

Since posting, I have been studying all the posts which are very similar to mine, asking the same basic question.

Wanted:-
Basic weather parameters, reliably, with the option of exporting the data to Wunderground (or similar) without local computers (in my case Mac) being in circuit.

Bushman, much appreciated. I'll look at the one you mention.

What is your budget?  You can get a Davis Vue with a Meteobridge for about  $500 US all-in.  No PC needed.

With $150 more, and then import duty. Is it that much better?

EU import duty on goods from the USA is huge.

The item you suggest is about £400 from the UK, (no duty to pay within Europe) $612 US / $812 CAN

And then there is delivery here...... if it ever gets here..

If my figures are correct.

I am not keen on the panel/display on The Davis Vue . Doesn't look as if it wall-mounts well.

This is the one I was looking at on the site you mention. £170 plus import duty.

Any thoughts ?

As far as I can see, to import an item like this (say it costs $500) from the USA to Europe is 118 Euros and DHL would charge $120.

118 Euros is £85 and
$120 is about £80
so the costs add up.

IF my figures are correct!  (I don't claim them to be true figures.- They are quick estimates).

Any more accurate figures anyone?
