Topic: Newbie question about mounting tripods

Hi! I am new to the board and have a mounting question. I am purchasing a Davis Vantage Pro 2 and plan on mounting it on the roof peak of my backyard shed (shingled). On the Ambient Weather website, they have two kinds of tripod mounts available: the EZ-48-3AB-125-35 Tripod assembly for $39.00 and the Davis Instruments 7716 Mounting Tripod & Mast for $58.50. Has anyone used either of these? To my inexperienced eye, I  don’t see much difference between the two—except the price!

Save yourself even more money and simply buy one at Radio Shack.  

There is nothing special about those others that you pay more money for and have to pay shipping to boot.

You may want to talk with Chris at SLOweather. He has a really nice setup that he bought that is fairly cheap. I'd give you the link but I'm not exactly sure where it is.
