Photos from City Park
« on: October 28, 2007, 01:04:35 AM »
I took my new camera to Rising Park here in the city last week to capture some fall scenery from the park and on top of Mt. Pleasant.  It was one of the clearest days we'd seen in awhile.  I uploaded them to my website, here's a direct link:

Here's a few teasers..

The wind was blowing up to 20mph gusts on the mountain top.  I had my arms braced on the railing trying to hold the camera still.  Especially when zoomed out on the last photo the picture was shaking bad in the viewfinder even being braced. I was amazed how well the photos turned out.

This last one was at full 10x zoom and I would estimate the cemetery was about 1-2 mile away.  That is why the blue haze in the air shows up more in it.

This is Mt. Pleasant in the park.  I was right along the top front edge when I took the 2nd and 3rd photo.

Nice pics Mark.
The fall colors are the only thing I miss from up north. Wunderground has a lot of good  fall pics now.

Mark:

Those are great pics!  We went camping this weekend and the colors were good.  The charts say the area is about "peak" for colors:

Yeah this weekend would have been better for the colors here.  The wind and rain we had last week took a lot of them down though.  With all the dry and hot weather this year the fall colors seem to be running a few weeks later and shorter in duration than normal.
