Title: Thundersnow in Ontario Today?
Post by: miraculon on December 30, 2017, 03:32:08 PM
I saw some strikes indicated on Blitzortung. I verified on GRLevel3 ENTLN, Environment Canada as well.

They seem to be between Sarnia and Goderich, Kettle Point and Lambton Shores area. I wouldn't have expected to see this. It is just about the only lightning activity I see.

That is getting close to me, but my station 1076 didn't pick up anything from there.  We have had snow this afternoon with periods of quite heavy www.komokaweather.com/weather/wu/image_wu.jpg

Alerts for: London - Middlesex Warnings 12:32 PM EST Saturday 30 December 2017
Snow squall warning in effect for:

  • London - Parkhill - Eastern Middlesex County
  • Strathroy - Komoka - Western Middlesex County
A heavy snow squall currently affecting portions of Huron County is expected to shift southwards this afternoon, and evolve into several snow bands tonight into Sunday.

Snowfall accumulations of 10 to 15 cm per 12 hour period are possible under the heaviest snow squalls.
Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.

Snow squall warnings are issued when bands of snow form that produce intense accumulating snow or near zero visibilities.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ec.cpio-tempetes-ospc-storms.ec@canada.ca or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
Enjoy,
Paul

There been some pretty good lightning in the Gulf of Mexico all day. Been playing with settings on my new system which I got just before Christmas. Been hoping for lightning ever since  :-)

@AWL link should be fixed now.  I had a type initially and had edited it and looked ok on Preview, but should have removed the whole incorrect link and fully re-enter.

Enjoy,
Paul

If you've never seen it, it's truly a sight to see, especially at night. =D>
