What people will pay to fix an old Heathkit
« on: May 03, 2013, 12:02:12 AM »
Someone really wants his Heathkit ID-4001 working again.   I like my Heathkit, but I could never see spending this kind of money to get one section of it working again.   Check out the price that the wind
sensors went for on this e-bay auction.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/HEATHKIT-ID-4001-WIND-SENSOR-WEATHER-STATION-HEAD-ANEMOMETER-CUPS-DIRECTION-/151031790642?pt=US_Weather_Meters&hash=item232a323c32

Is that outragious or what?   I put in a bid, but dropped out after it hit $50

Notice that the bearings are shot - I suspect this unit will be relisted and go for 50 bucks.
