Vantag PRO 2 reading very high temp
« on: July 01, 2015, 02:21:02 PM »
I’ve been using a Vantage pro 2 for about 5 year last night the outside temperature jumped from 23⁰C to 70⁰C this was a step change the humidity also dropped from 80 to 30 % this is probably an effect of the temperature change the temperature and humidity had worked ok for the last 5 years. Typically it had to fail on the day before the hottest day ever recorded in my area.
I’ve checked the wiring from the sensor to the transmitter unit and appears to be ok. I’ve removed the sensor and had it in a low humidity room.. But the fault still exists when   reconnected.  Any suggestions please. I’ve order a Sensirion SHT11 chip to repair it. But before I star removing the old chip I want to make sure it’s faulty and have missed a simple fix. Thanks

What I've read a sensor failure drops in temperature. There could be exceptions, read this thread. http://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=14294.0

I'm back up and working. I've attached some photos & diagrams of my findings.
In a nut shell it was a corroded track on the circuit board. But I also changed the chip.  If I needed to replace the unit  I'd  ordered a new part from https://www.scaledinstruments.com he dose a OME Generic Part SHT11. at 1/2 the cost. he also dose the SHT15 upgrade chip set. I've used him for parts for a few years now and found him reliable and a lot cheaper than UK pricing but don't forget about  the import duty.
