Vantage Pro2 extra sensors records?
« on: June 23, 2015, 07:04:22 AM »
Is there a way to do record lows/highs with the extra sensors you can buy from Davis? They should be logged somewhere.

BTW
Does the #6372 not do humidity? I have the #6382 and it's more costly.

The 6372 does not have humidity.

As for extra temp/hum, each has a block of tags like this:

Temperature 3

<!--Temperature3-->

High Temperature 3

<!--hiTemp3-->

High Temperature 3 Time

<!--hiTempTime3-->

Low Temperature 3

<!--lowTemp3-->

Low Temperature 3 Time

<!--lowTempTime3-->

Seems strange that it will not do humidity with the high price tag and i consider it to be high end temp gear :)

I know about the tags but what about record keeping with the extra sensors? It seems that the console holds the info as it shows when you press hi/low. How do i export it or put the high/low on line to view remotely?

Thanks!

There are temp sensors and temp/hum sensors.  You choose.  It is not possible to remotely access the console.  You can, however POKE the console for the highs.  But it is easier to just manage them yourself.

Sounds like a WeatherLink question?

There is an extra Temp/hum report in WL, but IIRC it resets every day.  I'd have to remote log in to check to see if that was not the case.

I have weatherLink but never used it. I think i only used it for the driver.

I've been very happy with cumulus uploading data to my website it just does not pull high/low data from the extra sensors that you can buy for your davis system. If weatherlink does that i'll have to buy it again since i can't find the CD to try it.

Can cumulus and weatherlink run at the same time?

Thanks again!

From the Wiki...

"Cumulus provides some support for extra sensors that can be connected to Oregon Scientific (e.g. WMR-928) and Davis (e.g.Vantage Pro 2 wireless models can have extra sensors whose readings can be interrogated via the Davis DLL) weather stations."

As for running two pgms simultaneously, it depends.  You will need a certain set of SW/HW/firmware and an outside  program that allows the USB ports to be read.  Why make this difficult?  Oh yeah, the Davis Extra sensors report doesn't keep the historical numbers.

It's a expensive system you would think it would log everything that connects to it.

It's a limitation of the PC to which it is connected.

You need something like VirtualVp  http://www.softwx.com/weather/virtualvp.html  Or roll your own with some fancy driver footwork.

I never noticed but cumulus does have a log of the extra sensors data. It's under "view" then "extra data log viewer" then you can load whatever months extralog file. To bad you can't view them remotely on your web site with tags.
