Best way to melt ice
« on: December 28, 2015, 03:43:59 PM »
Well its hard for me to say this but....

I havent reported in over a month and really want to get back on schedule. I have a ton of ice in my gauge as all liquid precip froze as we dropped below 0 today. What would be the quickest way to melt this? Also any tips for remembering every morning?

Suggest gradually.  Sink with warm water.. immerse the cylinder, be a tad patient, the ice cylinder will loosen and you can dump it out.  Whatever you do, don't microwave it!
a reminder???? Dunno... a sticky note by the coffee pot?  On the toilet tank?

Also any tips for remembering every morning?

If you have a smartphone or tablet, use its calendar function to make a recurring entry, for every day at 8AM or what ever. I use Google Calendar and its synced on my GS4, Nexus 7, laptop, and desktop. Then you can use the notification sound as a reminder.

I have a second outside tube and I place that by the rear door so I will remember or trip over it ;)  The second tube is also helpful in that you can put it in place (alternate) while the one just taken from outside is inside melting the snow/ice...
