The weather guys here are classify the storm equal to an Cat 3 hurricane. Still snowing and blowing with another low moving in behind this one with 60 knots forcasted. Nome  has barricade sandbag and now waiting to see how bad the flooding is. Water level is  expected to crest 8 feet above mmhw  around 2000 tonight. Golvin Bay  expecting  to crest some time between 2000-2200 tonight. Not dub an perfect storm but in my opinion it is just one of many that comes thru this area that is as bad or worst then that North Altantic storm.

Looks like one death from this storm. Guy rode his ATV down to breakwater in Teller and never came home. Believe to been washed away. All I can say  kinda dumb to go out on breakwater that awashed with water. It will get you every time.

Here is a link to keep handy for the future. It shows the northern hemisphere jet stream animations for a variety of selectable periods of time.

For the topic of this thread, just select the animation for 20 days and an interval of 6 hours to watch the development of the storm. Pretty interesting. I had seen this link a long time ago but couldn't remember where it was. I stumbled on it this morning. The main site (http://squall.sfsu.edu) has lots of images and animations to select from.
