Info on cable between datalogger and serial port
« on: June 11, 2017, 09:46:54 PM »
I still have a serial port style data logger, but I seem to have misplaced the flat cable that connects the data logger to the serial port adapter. The cable appears to be a flat 4-conductor cable sorta like the old landline telephone style. Can I just purchase a flat telephone cable with no crossover and connect the two parts? Any insight or a place where I can purchase the correct cable would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Cable is simply 4 core flat (telephone cable) but the connector on the logger is 4P4C and the serial end which connected to the "Blue" serial adapter is 6P4C. You require a 4P4C straight through adapter, a 4P4C plug on one end of the 4 core cable and if using the Blue adapter then a 6P4C plug on the other end or some means to connect to your PC's serial port.

That was exactly the information that I needed. I built my own cable and all is working well. Thanks for your help!
