WeatherBug Community Down
« on: April 15, 2016, 03:28:55 PM »
WeatherBug Community members are having issues accessing the WeatherBug Community on desktop browsers. This is a known issue with our hosting provider (NING). The issue is on their end and isn't something we have direct control over. For the latest status updates, please visit http://status.ning.com/  I encourage you to subscribe to their email updates so when future issues happen with our hosting provider, you'll know about them. We're also going to discuss the possibility of rolling our own status page concerning WeatherBug products and services in the future, and if we launch such a status page, we will send out a broadcast message to WeatherBug Community members informing them how they can subscribe to email updates (so we can directly inform you of future issues ourselves).

Additionally, I will be in final exams and final papers the week of April 18-23. I will be checking my email on those days but very infrequently. I will not be taking calls and chances are will not be checking Facebook often during this week. Thank you all for your patience and understanding, and looking forward to wrapping up this semester! I need my "life" back so I can function with WeatherBug work again. :-)

Alternate way to access WeatherBug Community while NING is down. Pop this into your desktop browser. Stripped down but hey, it works.

WeatherBug Community back up. Thank you all for your patience while it came back up. We were as frustrated at you concerning the downtime, and we are thankful to be back up and running again!

WeatherBug Community down again. No additional updates from hosting provider. Please try backyard.weatherbug.com/m to log on.

I do not seem to be able to get to backyard.weatherbug.com. Am interested in sending data from our new weather station. Any hints?

TIA
Michael

Try it now. We were out earlier (AGAIN! This is Friday the 13th. I was also without power much of the day). Here's what my colleague sent out concerning the issue the first time it happened just in case you need it for future reference:

Welcome back everyone,

Over the past few days, our web hosting provider for http://backyard.weatherbug.com/ experienced a service interruption. Rest assured that I share your frustration as this meant our community was unable to login to the http://backyard.weatherbug.com/ during this outage.

At this time, it appears that http://backyard.weatherbug.com/m remained available throughout the course of the service interruption.
Going forward, if there is an outage you can check these sites for updates: http://status.ning.com/ and https://twitter.com/wbugcommunity -- I recommend bookmarking these for future use, just in case.

If you ever see Error 500 again, try logging into the mobile website: http://backyard.weatherbug.com/m for temporary WeatherBug Community access.
Even though the http://backyard.weatherbug.com/m site is limited and designed for smaller screens, it will work with any desktop/laptop computer as a fallback.
Once again, I deeply regret the downtime our community experienced and appreciate your patience.

By the way, we're also having issues with PWS as well and having some MAJOR issues there too. See the two posts I made in the discussion forums here for info. Hoping to send out another update Wednesday after our meeting:
