Topic: Snowy Weather Station Pictures!

I've decided to post a few pictures of my Davis VP2 taken during this weekend's winter storm. This is from Huntsville, AL where we got about 1.5" total on Friday combined with windy conditions. I also got to test out my recently installed rain gauge heater which worked very well

Did anyone else get any pictures during the storm or from a previous storm? If you do, why don't you share them with us! I like seeing pictures of stations buried in snow

I moved the anemometer from the tripod the ISS is on to the roof this past August and am getting improved wind speeds. Still not ideal of course, but I can't complain given the amount of large trees surrounding the house.

I just disassembled the radiation shield to clean it a couple weeks ago; it had been relatively untouched for a whole year since I first installed it last January. I hand scrubbed each slat with dish soap and warm water. To my surprise, the dirt and grime caked on them came off very easily and cleaned up very nicely. Also did the same to the rain collector. Very pleased with how easy it was to clean!

If it does, you'll need to do at least what I've done, replace the temp/hum sensor, because they wander (I did the SHT15), and all the FANS (don't get me started, I finally went AC). Once fixing the fan problem for good, it's a damn good package.

This was my station during last year's record breaking snowfall in Huntsville on February 25, 2015. I got about 7" at my house, but 8" was the official measurement. This one event pushed us to the snowiest February on record here. This was also obviously before the rain gauge heater as there was 7" of snow in the rain collector!

Two reasons I went AC. 1) My ISS is out in the desert behind a cider block wall so access to check the fan was a total pain. For you, no sweat. 2) The greatly added aspiration is very nice to have here.
