time lapse NOAA GOES CLASS/ NEXRAD data going back to 1984?
« on: January 01, 2017, 12:01:44 PM »
Can anyone tell me if it's possible to obtain both or either NOAA GOES CLASS satellite data and/or NEXRAD time lapse data going back to 1984?  From the website, the furthest I see NEXRAD data going back is 1991 and satellite data more recent than that.

Thank you.

You aren't going to find any NEXRAD data prior to 1991. It most likely does exist, but wasn't available to the public. April 1991 was when the WSR-88D went online in Oklahoma City. It was being used in testing alongside the WSR-74C, which was the primary radar used by the NWS at the time.

Thanks.  The only resource I could find was here:

https://www.ssec.wisc.edu/datacenter/archive.html

It looks like Goes 6 might be my best bet, but not yet available online.
