Josh.  Sorry to say it, but maybe you should go back to pencil and paper! :-P

Just kidding.  Any chance of getting your info off the pancake laptop?

Congrats on the new one.  I guess?

Ooooh!  What ever you do, don't go IBM on the laptops.  Actually Lenovo now.  Get an HP or something else.  Place I work at likes Dells.  We do HP once in awhile.  But one person insisted on a Lenovo.  Ran like crap.  Even with our "upgraded" warranty, Lenovo couldn't fix it.  We tried to "lemon law" it.  No go.  Now we have a $2k paper weight that's good enough to browse the web.

Funny thing was after that, the guy actually said he'd "try" a Dell.  Thing runs so much better than the POS Lenovo, he hasn't complained once.  That and he won't admit our advice was right all along...

Especially dont buy it, if it says IBM, that means it is at least a couple of years old.  As 92merc said ibm personal computer stuff is all branded Lenovo now.  Same model names and number, but IBM sold the hold division over...

We have a huge contract with IBM so all our stuff is now ibm/lenovo at work.   Desktops and monitors are ok, but I agree the laptops are a pita, my wife's dell is much nicer and cheaper to acquire, even with our "deal".

I dislike all laptop pointing interfaces (nub, touchpad, ball...)   I have always be a desktop person, so when I have my laptop at home from work, I just plug in a usb mouse. Not practical while mobile, but if you are sitting at a desk or table anyway, might as well use the real thing.  They are pretty much free these days...

I'm on my second Toshiba latop.  Had good luck with the first and bought a second. A306-S6898 or something like that. 'bout $750 from Best Buy.

I use a small wireless Microsoft mouse.  My fingers don't like the touch pad.
